Fue un bonito día de otoño, si bien estaba fresco afuera, teníamos un gran grupo de Encuentro de personas que se reunieron en «Interior 5» en Chinatown (el barrio chino) en Boston para celebrar el Día de la Libertad del Software. Se hablo sobre «hacks» para su blog, el rol de la mujer en el free software, el free software en los dispositivos móbiles, y cómo incide el free software en la economía.
## La Cumbre de mujeres en el Software Libre: ¡Un paso de gigante para el software libre sexo femenino!
Hace apenas un mes, anunciamos nuestra intención de celebrar una cumbre para hablar sobre tema importante, a propósito de la creciente participación de la mujer en el software libre. Esta mini-cumbre se convirtió también en un punto de partido para nosotros aquí en la FSF, para empezar a construir un programa de campaña que lleva atraiga a mas mujeres a la comunidad.
## Mac OS X errores y mal funcionamiento
Mientras que Apple no ofrece, al parecer, los cambios impuestos por la necesidad, tiene una Registro de tareas que impone a los usuarios instalar los cambios perjudiciales, todo ello con el problema y riesgo de perder las funcionalidades, se ha engañado a los usuarios acerca de lo que estos cambios hacen.
## Xander Vedejas ¡Miembro GNU Generation del mes!
Xander ha estado trabajando principalmente en Valix, un nuevo sistema operativo con un enfoque sencillo e integrado. Trabajo en assembler y en C, ha comenzado la creación de un sistema operativo que ya tiene un sistema integrado el sistema de gráficos y un lenguaje de programación.
## Para que CodePlex no lo deje perplejo
Muchos en nuestra comunidad sospechan de la Fundación CodePlex. Algún día estaremos en condición de juzgar la organización por sus acciones (incluyendo sus relaciones públicas). Hoy sólo podemos tratar de anticipar lo que hará, basándonos en sus declaraciones y las de Microsoft.

Las nominaciones son hasta el 31 de octubre de 2009.
La «Free Software Foundation Award» por la Promoción del Software Libre es otorgado anualmente por la FSF y su presidente, Richard Stallman, a la persona que haya hecho una gran contribución al progreso y al desarrollo del software libre, a través de actividades que estan de acuerdo con el espíritu del software libre.

## FSF announces new bounty program, offering « GNU Bucks » for finding nonfree works in free distributions
The Free Software Foundation will begin rewarding those who find and report any nonfree components in free software operating system distributions with public recognition and « GNU Bucks. » Those qualifying for the award will receive a « GNU Buck » bank note, in the amount of pi and signed by Free Software Foundation president and « Chief GNUisance » Richard Stallman.

## Xander Vedejas is the GNU Generation member of the month!
Xander has primarily been working on Valix, a new operating system with a simple and integrated approach. Working in assembler and C, he has begun creating an operating system that already has an integrated graphics system and a programming language in the works.

## Sugar Labs and FSF announce joint efforts to promote learning platform for children
The FSF has upgraded its hosting services support of Sugar Labs to keep pace with its growth. As part of the ongoing relationship, Bernardo Innocenti, a member of the Sugar Labs Oversight Board, is working at the FSF offices.

## FSF files brief in Bilski case calling on the Supreme Court to eliminate software patents
The Free Software Foundation submitted an amicus curiae brief calling on the Supreme Court to affirm that software ideas are not patentable. After outlining the positive impact that the free software movement and the GNU General Public License (GNU GPL) have had on computer use, the brief explains how software patents are an obstacle and a danger to software developers.

I’d like to specially note the first new release of gzip (the longstanding GNU compression package) in many years. Thanks to the new co-maintainer, Jim Meyering, for reviving this. And thanks also to Jim for actively maintaining GNU coreutils and other fundamental GNU packages for many years.
